Right wing bully

Have you ever seen a news piece that angers you so much that you simply have to say something?

I am ticked off.

My political views could best be described as left-leaning-centrist. I am not a flaming liberal, but I’m willing to hear them out. I am also willing to hear out conservatives. At least most of them. Kevin Roberts, president of the highly conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation, recently released this statement:

We are in the process of a second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless, if the left allows it to be.

If the left allows it to be? What kind of passive aggressive nonsense is that?!? That sounds like something an abusive parent would say to their frightened child, or that a wife-beater says to his suffering spouse.

If you get in our way, there will be violence.

Do as you are told, or we will have to hurt you.

We know what’s best; do as we say or you will be punished.

The Heritage Foundation is the author of Project 2025, which outlines the political and social agenda of a Republican presidential win in the November election. It is clearly written with one particular candidate in mind – Donald J. Trump – and it echoes a lot of his more extreme views. I have been slogging my way through the document, which is 900-plus pages in length, and so far it’s pretty scary. As if the political climate in the United States wasn’t scary enough already.

But hearing Roberts threaten violence if the Republicans don’t win in November, is a new level of scary. This says to me that if the Republicans don’t win in November, then we can expect violence. To be honest, I already expect some violence related to this election. If it doesn’t happen around the election itself, it will happen closer to January of 2025, when the Electoral votes are counted. Either way, it will be messy. A lot of Republicans, including Trump, have been hinting of this, but now it’s out in the open: elect Trump, or there will be violence. If Trump doesn’t win the election, well, look at what you made us do. This is all the let’s fault.

If the Democrats win in November, then the Republicans should do what has been done in this country since 1789. Namely, grumble, accept your loss, figure out what you did wrong, then set your sights on the next set of elections. I have no doubt that the Democrats will accept the results after they have been verified; they aren’t the ones who have been complaining about “stolen elections,” which were verified as not being stolen.

I’m actually thinking of buying a gun, and I don’t like guns! I’m afraid that some member of an extremist group like the Proud Boys will come banging on my door, and threaten me and my family with physical harm unless we pledge our loyalty to Trump and his gang of storm-troopers.

I for one and not going to be bullied around with this rhetoric. Roberts, who gave you the idea that you know what’s best for everyone, and that you and your ilk have the right to threaten violence if your wishes aren’t met? You are little more than a schoolyard bully. Finally, I’m going to object to this Project 2025 stuff, and encourage others to object to it. And, I will continue to do so until the Republicans take that right away from me.

I know they plan to do so.

If you’re wondering what this has to do with the neurodivergent crowd, based on what I’ve read so far of Project 2025, there isn’t much room for us in a future Republican America. More on that later.
